Accepted into the PhD in Innovation, starting 2026
Gavin Neal’s research interests explore how organisations learn, adapt, and innovate in rapidly changing environments. This research directly powers Kith & Kin Global’s consulting and coaching — giving our clients cutting-edge insight into AI, innovation, and future-ready leadership. Gavin's work integrates network science, systems thinking, and artificial intelligence to map and strengthen the hidden flows of knowledge that drive performance and resilience.
At the centre of his inquiry is a modelling approach that identifies and visualises how knowledge is learned and movs through complex systems. Gavin is investigating how patterns of conversation and expertise form “learning loops”, from operational know-how through to strategic and visionary insight, and how these loops predict an organisation’s ability to innovate, transform digitally, and stay competitive.
He is especially interested in:
Deep Learning Architectures for Organisations: designing systems that go beyond static knowledge management to support adaptive intelligence and ethical decision-making.
Knowledge Measurement: developing new methods to quantify and validate the implicit expertise often missed by traditional analytics.
Digital Transformation & AI Integration: using knowledge graph metrics to track maturity (e.g., SIRI levels) and guide transformation roadmaps.
Cognitive Diversity & Neurodiversity: investigating how different thinking styles, including dyslexic and intuitive cognition, can strengthen organisational foresight and creativity.
Education & Future Skills: applying these insights to how we teach, assess, and develop future leaders and PhD-level thinkers in an AI-driven world.
Gavin aims to use this research to help leaders and organisations design adaptive, ethical, and future-ready systems, turning complex data and AI into practical insight for innovation and resilience.
